Affinity Groups

Interested in connecting with your land trust colleagues across Washington? Affinity groups provide staff with a dedicated space to interact with peers statewide, exchange strategies, brainstorm ideas, and learn from one another. Our affinity groups meet primarily virtually, however each group has the opportunity to meet in-person based on availability and demand.

WALT’s current affinity groups include:

  • Operations and Organization Management
  • Farmland
  • Development
  • Stewardship
  • Land Conservation
  • Outreach, Communication, and Engagement

In addition to these groups, WALT maintains an Advocacy Committee, consisting of both elected voting members and non-voting members, all drawn from our membership base.

Looking ahead to 2024, WALT is set to introduce new and revitalized affinity groups, based on feedback from our community. These will include a group for BIPOC land trust staff, an executive director’s cohort, and a specialized group focusing on shoreline conservation efforts.

If you’d like to participate in one of WALT’s affinity groups, please reach out to kate@walandtrusts.org with the names of the groups you are interested in joining.
