WALT is thrilled to announce the newest release of Groundswell, our annual report on private land conservation work in Washington!
We are excited to showcase our members’ incredible projects across Washington State over the last year. In this edition, we’ve highlighted the great partnerships, planning, and community engagement land trusts have engaged in to protect the special natural spaces forever. You’ll read about how land trusts have worked alongside land owners, Tribes, local and state governments, and other conservation organizations to protect beloved landscapes across the state. The featured stories span from the Olympic Peninsula and islands in the Puget Sound to the Blue Mountains to the Methow Valley and down to the Columbia Gorge.
In the digital copy, you can click on any story to learn more about the project from the land trusts and other partners involved. We hope you take the time to explore these powerful stories! If you want a paper copy, email us at info@walandtrusts.org.
We’d like to thank everyone who submitted stories, images, and feedback. Without the contributions from all our land trusts and partners, this publication wouldn’t be possible. Big thanks to our Groundswell designer, Melissa Delizio, who brought our vision for this publication to life. We are also very grateful to the Tulalip Tribes Charitable Fund, the Suquamish Foundation, the Burning Foundation, the Icicle Fund, and the Bullitt Foundation for grants supporting the production of this publication.
We started publishing Groundswell to help elevate local voices and stories that demonstrate how grassroots, community-driven land conservation uplifts people and place. We hope it can be a useful tool for both land trusts and partners to engage more community members, legislators, and other funders in the cause.
