Back in February, North Cascades Buddhist Priory transferred 270 acres along the Nisqually River to the Nisqually Land Trust. The habitat supports all five species of salmonid native to Washington, and creates the first pileated woodpecker preserve in the state. Additional support came from the WA State RCO Salmon Recovery Funding Board’s Puget Sound Acquisition & Restoration Program, Puget Sound Partnership, and Nisqually Delta Environmental Mitigation Trust.
