Blue Mountain Land Trust (BMLT) has successfully secured the permanent protection of 942 acres and 3.72 miles of the Umatilla River and Birch Creek lands. This achievement is the result of ongoing collaboration led by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) with BMLT, property owner Jim Whitney, Western Rivers Conservancy, and the Bonneville Power Administration. As one of the largest and most impactful river restoration initiatives, this project will safeguard critical habitats for fish, wildlife, and local communities.
