Vashon Maury Island Land Trust

Earth day Volunteer Event. Join the Vashon Maury Island Land Trust in removing invasive species and “spiffing up” the Kneeshaw House property in Judd Creek Preserve. The land trust will provide tools, gloves, and snacks.

Capitol Land Trust

Earth Day Stewardship Party. Capitol Land Trust and friends will be working the gorgeous Twin Rivers Ranch Preserve. This 133-acre piece of paradise protects the mouths of Cranberry Creek and Deer Creek, both of which are salmon bearing streams. After years of human impact, we have planted thousands of native plants, expanding the riparian buffer surrounding the creeks. Join us in maintaining these plantings by removing invasive vegetation that threatens their growth.

Lummi Island Heritage Trust

Otto Preserve Spring Clean-up. Join Lummi Island Heritage Trust at the Annual Otto Preserve Spring Clean-up. Come help tidy up the Otto Preserve Resource Center, grounds, and trails. All ages welcome, they have a job for everyone! Bring your favorite tools and work gloves. Dress for the weather. Refreshments will be served.

Spring Bird Walk. From February to May the bird population on Lummi Island gradually shifts from winter to summer avifauna. At first, the focus will be on resident species and wintering water birds. As spring arrives, so will a variety of warblers, flycatchers, hummingbirds, tanagers, grosbeaks, vireos, and more. Bring binoculars, walking shoes, and dress for the weather.

Skagit Land Trust

Earth Day at Utopia. Join Skagit Land Trust for an afternoon of exploring Utopia Conservation Area near Sedro Woolley. There will be opportunities to tour restoration projects over time, learn about amphibians and their habitats, and help care for trees planted at past Earth Day celebrations by taking off protectors so they can flourish on their own. Bring your boots!

Chelan-Douglas Land Trust

Earth Day Trail Work Party. Spend Earth Day getting ‘earthy’ doing trail work on the new Burt’s Trail at Horse Lake Reserve. This is arduous but rewarding work: volunteers will use handtools to construct trail tread. Bring a water bottle, wear sturdy shoes, and dress appropriately for the weather. CDLT will supply lunch and snacks, and all tools and equipment.

Earth day Scavenger Hunt for Families. Come out for an easy way to explore nature and celebrate Earth Day with your kids in the Foothills! The Land Trust will be stationed at the beginning of the trail to help you get started, and Land Trust staff, local volunteers and nature lovers will be stationed along the trail to help you navigate, complete the scavenger hunt, and learn more about the plants and animals of our beautiful Foothills.

Forterra

Snoqualmie Earth Day Restoration Event and Celebration. Join Forterra with the Green Snoqualmie Partnership in their celebration of Earth, our home. As a part of their event, the Partnership is hosting a drop-in volunteer restoration event for any and all to join at our Cottonwood Bog site. Join us in planting a native plant and helping remove weeds that threaten our city’s forests. All ages and all abilities are welcome to help.

Blue Mountain Land Trust

Nature Kids Earth Day. Help the Blue Mountain Land Trust celebrate our beautiful planet at the Whitman Mission. Learn to orient yourself in nature, practice Leave No Trace principles, and explore the history of the site. Plus, enjoy singing along to songs about the natural world with local musician, Jimmye Turner, and his guitar.

San Juan Preservation Trust

Henry Island Earth Day Trail Work and Beach Clean-up. Participate in both or just one of these weekend days (April 21 and/or 22) as the land trust tackles numerous projects on the beautiful Henry Island Preserve. Projects will include beach cleanup, opening of the seasonal isthmus trail, trail brushing/clearing, noxious weed removal, and sign installation. Transportation to Henry Island from Roche Harbor provided.

Whatcom Land Trust

Invasive Plant Control and Planting at Glacier Springs Complex/Canyon Creek. Join us for Earth Day at Whatcom Land Trust’s and Whatcom County’s properties along Canyon Creek in the Glacier Springs community. If the weather allows, there will be an amazing view of Mt. Baker from the work area! Following the work party, the Volunteer Land Stewards for this site will offer a site tour to explore the remainder of the property.
