Years ago, Gary Miles and his wife Betty made plans to leave their 10-acres forested property on Samish Island to Skagit Land Trust. When Betty passed in 2019 and Gary in 2020, the property came to the land trust in July 2022 along with a stewardship bequest to manage the land. During their lifetime, Betty and Gary maintained the land as a wildlife sanctuary, and their legacy lives on through this protected forest.
