Anyone who knows Janet Strong knows that she is a force of nature — and her passion for natural spaces is infectious. A WALT Board member and treasurer for the Chehalis River Basin Land Trust, Janet has been working to preserve the natural world around her for her entire life.
She has been an integral member of the Chehalis River Basin Land Trust for 22 years, and headed the organization as it’s president from 1998 to 2014. She also has a conservation easement on her own property.
In the article, Janet explains of other landowners, like her, who seek to conserve their land through an easement: “They don’t want to see their land sold and divided into housing sites, and they can accomplish this through these agreements. Landowners gain the satisfaction of knowing the land they worked so hard to conserve will be protected long after they are gone.”
The Washington Association of Land Trusts is lucky to have Janet on our board and as a part of Washington’s rich land trust community, fighting to protect the places we treasure most.
