The txʷaalqəł Conservation Area, also known as the North Creek Salmon Heritage site, has been fully conserved and protected after three years of hard work from Great Peninsula Conservancy, Key Peninsula Land Fund (which recently joined GPC as a special committee), the City of Gig Harbor, and other community partners. The 50+ acre green space in Gig Harbor provides recreational access and holds key riparian forest habitat for coho salmon, cutthroat trout, chum salmon, and steelhead trout.
Check out this video from the Puyallup Tribe of Indians on proper pronunciation of txʷaalqəł.
