Just before Earth Day, the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust secured an agricultural conservation easement on over 2,400 acres in Douglas County with Vernon Breiler, a fourth-generation rancher. The latest acquisition from the Skagit Land Trust ensures the public entrance to Samish Island is permanently protected. The beach along Padilla Bay also holds historic and cultural significance for the Coast Salish people. Capitol Land Trust recently more than doubled the size of Blooms Preserve.
