The Seattle-based land trust Forterra just secured protection of 17.6 acres of shoreline habitat on the picturesque Anderson Island of Pierce County. The Seattle Times called it a “keystone acquisition” by the land trust to help “preserve core ecological and recreation values in Puget Sound, even as the region grows.”

Bud Blanchard Trail, protected by Nisqually Land Trust, is getting rave reviews

The Bud Blanchard Trail opened for public use two years ago, and the 2.5-mile wooded trail is getting good use from walkers, hikers and bicyclists. The Eatonville Dispatch’s article Hit the Trail with Pleasure details the partnership effort to create this community resource. Nisqually Land Trust helped to protect the riverfront property along the route.
